West Cobb Extreme 12U 07 Spreads Holiday Cheer at Sterling Estates

The West Cobb Extreme 12U ’07 team spent a Saturday afternoon at the Sterling Estates of West Cobb Senior Living Community sharing some holiday spirit with the residents. The team brought gifts and handmade holiday cards to over 25 residents of the facility. Both the residents and the team engaged in conversations about best Christmas memories, most delicious holiday meals, and (of course) softball! Everyone enjoyed cookies and lemonade and the event culminated with the Extreme team singing Christmas carols to the group!

Everyone had a fun and festive time and not only were the residents pleased with the event (they requested an encore visit!) but a staff member of the facility that was not involved in the activity said her heart was so filled with joy listening to all the seniors laughing . . . and that it was so loud it prompted her to get up and peek in the room! She just saw smile after smile after smile, both young and old.

We will have a few more fans in the stands at Lost Mountain Park this coming season!

West Cobb Extreme 14U Serves Local Community

Dallas, Georgia – December 6, 2018: West Cobb Extreme 14U players and families served their local community by volunteering to benefit Hope for Christmas. West Ridge Church, located in Dallas, holds Hope for Christmas every year during the holiday season. 2018 marks the 11th year of the event, which provides toys, gifts, and hope for families in need. The event reaches far beyond the city of Dallas, well in to the Atlanta metro area. This year, an expected 2,500 families will attend the event on Saturday, December 8.

West Cobb Extreme 14U players helped the church prepare and transport gifts for children attending Hope for Christmas. Players and their families gathered at Russom Elementary, a staging location for the event. At the school, players gathered toys for boys and girls for ages ranging from infants to 18 years old. Later in the evening, players loaded trucks with bags of toys and gifts for transport to the church, where the event is held. Families followed the trucks to the church, then unloaded and arranged the packages. Once all the packages were in place at the church, they did it again! Back to the school to load, and back to the church to unload!

West Cobb Extreme 14U is grateful to West Ridge Church for providing this special event, and will return again next year to serve again.

West Cobb Extreme 12U Taliaferro – PFG Battle of the Diamonds

April 21, 2018, Marietta, GA – West Cobb Extreme 12U Taliaferro played in the PFG Battle of the Diamonds tournament on Saturday, April 21st. The team went 3-2 for the tourney, and it turned out to be a a major stepping stone for our girls. We had our first over the fence home run by KiKi Daniels – It was awesome! Our bats were on fire putting 20 runs on the board for the weekend. The fifth game of the day was a pitching duel and we came up a little short, ending our battle for the title.

The weekend proved to the girls they can compete at a higher level and the Gold Bracket is tough. West Cobb Extreme 12U players continue to learn and grow with each competition. “If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you” and our girls are up to the challenge.

Next up, the USSSA 2nd Annual Diamond Battle in Convington/Conyers on May 5th.

Coach’s comments:
The MVPs this weekend are Kiki Daniels and Kyla Harley. Kiki had our first over the fence dinger with a .455 on base % and .400 average on the day. Kyla had a .833 on base % with a .778 average – 3 walks, 1 triple, 1 double and 5 singles. Way to go girls!

West Cobb Extreme 12U Takes 1st Place in April Classic

April 21, 2018, Cartersville, GA – Excellent outing for West Cobb eXtreme 12U – Isley this weekend as they took 1st place in the GSA April Classic. We are very proud of how the girls came together as a team – Every inning, every game, no matter the score, they played with heart and soul and gave 110%. Six games and 15 hours later they got what they worked so hard for all day long… Tournament Champions! Well done girls and coaches!

West Cobb Extreme 12U – Taliaferro Competes in PGF Bringing the Heat Tournament

Marietta, GA: West Cobb Extreme 12U – Taliaferro played in the PFG Bringing the Heat tournament on Saturday, April 14th. The team went 3-2 for the weekend. The girls learned some valuable lessons about never giving up. They came back from being down 4-0 in their first game to a 5-4 WIN. And because once was not enough, they did it again in their second game coming back from being down 5-0 to a 6-5 WIN. On top of learning to fight through and never give up, they tried to give their parents (and coaches) heart attacks.

These tough games are the building blocks of character. They are needed to learn and grow as players and as a team. Each exciting win and tough loss is part of the process. Rome and great teams were not built in a day (or season). It is a process and we must trust the process. There are great things to come from this group of girls and we are excited for the future. Looking forward to the next tournament on April 21.

Coach’s comments:
The MVP this weekend is Taylor Daniel. She pitched 8 innings and racked up 14 strikeouts, winning both games she started. She also had a game winning triple against the Georgia Fire. Way to go, Taylor!
